If a Race playlist was added, it would have to be either FFA or Team, it can't be both, Reach's playlist configuration doesn't allow it.
A race playlist, would more than likely be FFA and Rocket Hog Race would remain in Multi-Team.
As for a Race playlist in general, it was originally planned to come out sometime in early 2012, but it was pushed back because the Cartographers let slip it would be coming before they should have.
Dang, I didn't know that about the FFA/Team thingy. Well then, it looks like we'll just have to have both ;)
I'm pretty sure they could get around that if they tried.
I'd use a Race playlist if it was added... by very carefully not selecting it. I'd be really happy if they added one simply to get it out of Multi-Team. I'm sure there's many others like me that either like the chaotic action of four-team slayer or like tryharding it up and getting crazy kill/deaths in the objective types, but LOATHE getting stuck into a Rocket Hog Race game.
There's no other gametype in which I can be forced (by teammates) into having no real control as to whether my team wins or loses. I'm sure we've all had that experience of having 'that guy' on your team who insists on driving and who will flip the Warthog until they get the driver's seat. God forbid you get two of those people, or if it's a pair who want to gun/drive and you get stuck in shotgun. You can flip it back, but then NOBODY on your team can do a Yoink! thing.
There's also the less deliberate but still infuriating experience of being stuck in the Warthog with someone who you're convinced is Halo's worst driver, or teamed up with a blind & ADD stricken gunner. Try and bail out of the hog, and you're a dead man walking and you'll be put right back in. Quit, and you'll be smacked with the consequences of bailing out (and you're leaving the idiots unsupervised).
I
have enjoyed Rocket Hog Race in the past, but ONLY when I wanted to be playing it and brought friends who want to as well. It's good fun... as long as everyone's on board with it.
So yeah. Give this
very different from every other gametype gametype its own playlist. PLEASE.
