But think of it like this. You go to the community pool, you see half the pool is for friends and family to have fun and what not. The other half is lanes for people to swim laps. But they recieved complaints that there wasn't enough lanes, so they added in more. They kept recieving complaints, so they add in more. Now the "non-pro" area is the same size as the swimming lanes and people are starting to complain about the cramp size. Not only that, but there's rumours that this final area will become a another swimming lane, forcing everybody who loves swimming at the pool to go into the kiddy pool (Custom). Not only that, but they also closed down the water slide because all the "pros" claimed it was a waste and doesn't let them show off their skills.
Now lets look at the stats for such a scenario. Lets say we have 100 people who use the pool. 80 of them want more lanes to run lap- 20 want a casual swimming area. The current set of lanes can hold 50 swimmers. That means we have 30 who want more lanes, 20 who don't. I think you see where I'm going with this.
For those who claim I'm making up stats, I'm not. I am in no way claiming these stats represent the actual Reach community. However, the TU implimentation will be based on voting data. If there are more players wanting TU setting, the TU will be sent in.
The vote is an outright and absolute farce. First of all, the vote itself is broken. In the weekly bulletin in which it was announced, they showed a screen shot of a voting screen. Same map, but one option was TU and the other, Vanilla. Should make things nice and clear cut, eh? Wrong. I have not gone into that mess to verify, but plenty of respectable players that post here have stated that they have had TU or Vanilla come up for BOTH options. Any numerical results the voting provides
will be wrong.
Secondly. As stated by BS Angel, there will
always be a vanilla playlist.
Guess what? Aside from the 'niche' or 'gimmick' playlists where the TU either won't work, or doesn't apply, and Invasion .... Team Slayer is, in fact,
the last vanilla playlist Reach has. Go on. Take a moment. Pop Reach in. Look at the playlists. See for yourself. Back with us? Good. (On top of that, why in the hell the TU needs to be on a 5v5 AND a 4v4 playlist is beyond me.)
In the end, all this voting nonsense does, is serve as some -Yoinked!- up dog and pony show. Two weeks from now, when the voting ends, we can expect "Well, the results are in, and Team Slayer gets the TU. But we said Reach will always have a vanilla playlist. So Team Slayer is staying just the way it is, and TU Slayer gets it's own playlist."
So in the end, WHY IN THE BLUE -Yoink!- ARE WE VOTING? 343 just slapped the TU on every other playlist, told us about it in the bulletin, and that was it. Period, end. No voting. No feedback from the community. None of that Yoink!. Just "These playlists are getting it. Have a nice day!"
What we should be voting on, is which of the low population playlists we should boot to make room for TU slayer. Team Objective, maybe? Co-op Campaign? Squad DLC?
